Dr. Ken Ballard, CTA Communications, Inc., presented an overview of CTA's work to-date evaluating the EBRCSA system design, as well as provided a high level discussion of the state of communications technology and the future migration to P25 compliant systems and what it means to public safety agencies in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. #1 Introduction and Project Status: Executive Director Bill McCammon provides some background on the EBRCSA and introduces Dr. Ken Ballard and Jim Collum of CTA Communications.
#2 Technology Overview: Dr. Ballard highlights the current state of the industry focusing on the P25 standard and new requirements for the future.
#3 Regulatory Considerations: Dr. Ballard reviews the FCC requirements for communications systems including discussing the requirements for narrow banding.
#4 Existing Systems: Dr. Ballard reviews the types of systems currently used in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties and how they will have to change to meet the new FCC requirements.
#5 Regional Communications Systems: Dr. Ballard provides an overview of several regional systems throughout the country and their successful implementations.
#6 EBRCSA Requirements: Dr. Ballard reviews his general recommendations of the type of system required to adequately serve Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.
